On the 20th of July. 2017 Marissa - The Community Manager released a message saying "We wanted to let you know that the Video Editor (youtube.com/editor) and Photo slideshows will go away on September 20th, 2017. We’ve seen the limited use of these features, so we’re retiring them to focus our efforts on building new tools and improving on other existing features. You’ll have two months to finalize any video projects before we turn off the features completely. After that, you will no longer have access to projects in the Video Editor, but any videos already published with the Video Editor will not be affected."

So with the Youtube editor going away here is what's staying, according to Marissa - The Community Manager:

"We are keeping the Enhancements feature in Video Manager. With Enhancements, you can continue to enhance your uploaded videos with edits such as trimming, blurring, and filters. Other things that are NOT going away:
  • Trimming
  • Blurring
  • Audio Library
  • Filters
  • End Screens
  • Cards
  • Subtitles
  • Sound effects
  • Quick fixes (stabilize, contrast, slow motion, saturation, etc) "

What we can confirm is going on September 20, 2017:
  • The tool specifically at the destination youtube.com/editor (raw video clip editing)
  • The Photo slideshow tool

So what do you guys think, did you use the Youtube video editor a lot. Have you ever used it?

I actually hated the YouTube video editor so it doesn't really bother me xD
It was good for quick trims but other than that it was very limited and you couldn't create decent videos with it. You are much better off using Hitfilm 4 express which is a free editor.
