The only way to injure Octomum is by hitting the pink ball that emerges from her mouth. The way to expose the pink ball is to get close to Octomum's face and psyche her into taking a swipe at you. Dodge out of the way, while firing shots.
Periodically, Octomum will spray ink and blot out your view of the room - get into Sun Form and release a sun charge to disperse the ink and restore vision. Also, Octomum will fire some balls of energy (avoid), and occasionally spawn an octopus (avoid and kill).
Steam Achievement: Octogone - Defeat Octomum.
