Review for Dead Nation (2014)

Dead Nation (2014) is another top down twin stick shooter developed by HouseMarque and takes place after a zombie apocalypse. Indeed your thrust into a zombie filled world and given a simple objective - survive. It’s this hectic and rather chaotic chance of survival that requires you to fight your way through a literal sprawl of the undead.

Dead Nation (2014) allows players to choose from multiplayer, single player and co-op split screen and with the help of some pretty impressive firepower players must battle through 10 brutal levels being careful not to succumb to the undead horde.

Dead Nation (2014) beautifully creates a nail biting tension and really gives off that ‘surviving the impossible’ vibe as even the lighting and use of shadows create a sense of dread as it obscures your view and hides enemies. What makes matters even worse is that not all the zombies are slow and dumb, some run, others can call reinforcements and some massive foes can easily dispatch you in one or two hits.

There is real diversity in Dead Nations (2014) roster of enemies and as you progress further into the campaign the more unpredictable and dangerous the undead become. Helping you out is Dead Nations (2014) emphasis on upgrading and customisation, with gold found in chests and fallen enemies being used to acquire or upgrade weaponry. Ever additional armour pieces can be found and players may need to make important choices around which to equip as the speed, strength and defense stats often come at the sake of another.

Even if its six hourish campaign isn’t enough to satisfy your itch to slay hordes of undead then its bundled in DLC ‘Road to Devastation’ - which focuses on continuous survival might. Or why not put yourself at the mercy of your viewers and play the Broadcast+ mode in which a live audience votes in zombie spawns, powers ups and punishments.

Overall Dead Nation (2014) is eerie, difficult but still tons of fun to play whether your playing on your own or with a group of friends.
