You shouldn't have to kiss any microphone if you have gain at the right levels and project your voice. Add compression and normalization on top of that and you can get a sweet quality. The ideal distance is 6-9 inches from your face anyway.Microphone is better, however I am not going to kiss the microphone just to get my voice be heard. So I will stick to the Headset.
Aye, that's what I use!Nothing beats a good ol XLR Mic... just keep it about a heads distance from you and use it properly and you won't get better.
What if you have $100+ mic (Blue Yeti) and $100+ headphones (Razer Kraken 7.1)?Depends.
-If you have a $20 mic and high grade headphones(let's say Astro a50) the obvious choice would be the Astros.
-If you have a $100+ mic(blue yeti, snowball etc) and a $20 headset, the mic would obviously be better.
-If you have both a high grade headset and mic, then I'd go with the mic.
